Advanced Podiatry Specialists Specialists provides high quality Electrodiagnostic Testing (EMG/Nerve Conduction Studies) performed and interpreted by a board certified neurologist with fellowship training in Electrodiagnostic Medicine.
This test is a helpful tool to determine the various conditions that can affect nerves and muscles in order to manage patient care better. This testing provides the patient with a valuable and necessary service.
The EMG/nerve conduction test is ONE test that has two parts. At the end of the two part test, it is read as one test with one report. The first section gives information regarding the peripheral nerve or muscle condition. The first part consists of electrical stimulus of the peripheral nerves which gives information on the health of the nerve itself. The second part consists of a very fine acupuncture-like needle electrode that is placed into different muscles to give information about the health and strength of the muscles itself. This test is usually very well tolerated.
